Background of the Study
In higher education institutions, resource allocation remains a critical challenge. Universities must efficiently distribute resources such as faculty time, funding, and infrastructure across multiple departments, programs, and activities. Bingham University, Karu, located in Karu LGA, Nasarawa State, faces the challenge of optimizing its resource allocation to enhance academic performance, research output, and student services. Game theory, a mathematical model of strategic interaction among rational decision-makers, can be applied to the resource allocation process to ensure that decisions lead to the most efficient and beneficial outcomes for all stakeholders. This study will explore how game theory can be employed to optimize resource allocation at Bingham University, Karu, by modeling the interactions between various departments and decision-makers.
Statement of the Problem
Bingham University, Karu, is currently facing difficulties in effectively allocating resources across its various departments, leading to inefficiencies and missed opportunities. Traditional methods of resource distribution, based on historical data or simple budgeting approaches, may not fully account for the complex interactions between departments and the need for fairness in resource distribution. As the institution grows, a more systematic approach is required to ensure resources are allocated efficiently and equitably. Game theory offers a structured framework for making strategic decisions in resource allocation, but its application within the university context has not been adequately explored.

Research Hypotheses
Significance of the Study
This study will provide Bingham University, Karu with a novel approach to resource allocation by applying game theory principles. The findings will contribute to the university’s ability to allocate resources more efficiently and equitably, leading to better academic outcomes and improved services for students. Additionally, the research will add to the body of knowledge regarding the use of game theory in educational management.
Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study will focus on the application of game theory for resource allocation at Bingham University, Karu, within Karu LGA, Nasarawa State. It will not extend to other methods of resource allocation or other types of optimization beyond game theory.
